A trend that keeps going but with less and less strength, until it breaks the other way.
Illustration, not real market data.
What it is
A rising wedge has rising highs and rising lows that converge, so each push up gains less. It usually breaks down. A falling wedge is the mirror image and usually breaks up.
How to spot it
Both lines slope the same way and converge.
Momentum fades: the swings get smaller (an RSI divergence often shows it).
How to use it
Wait for the close out of the wedge against its slope, then trade the retest of the broken line.
