Price levels where buying or selling has stepped in before, and often does again.
Illustration, not real market data.
What it is
Support is a level where falling price has repeatedly stopped and bounced, because buyers stepped in. Resistance is a level where rising price has repeatedly stalled, because sellers stepped in.
When a level breaks cleanly, it often swaps roles: old resistance becomes new support, and old support becomes new resistance.
How to spot it
Look for prices touched two or more times with clear reactions away from them.
Treat levels as areas, not exact prices; wicks overshoot.
Higher-timeframe levels (daily, weekly) matter more than ones only visible on a 1-minute chart.
How to use it
Buy near support or sell near resistance in a range, with the stop just beyond the level.
On a breakout, wait for the retest: the old level holding from the other side is the higher-quality entry.
Use the next level as a realistic profit target.
Common mistakes
Drawing a line on every candle so the chart is full of 'levels'.
Placing the stop exactly on the level, where wicks routinely reach.
Assuming a level will hold forever; the more often it is tested, the weaker it tends to get.
